Feng Shui

The term feng shui literally translates as “wind-water” in English. This is a cultural shorthand taken from the following passage of the Zangshu (Book of Burial) by Guo Pu of the Jin Dynasty:[5] Qi rides the wind and scatters, but is retained when encountering water.[5]

Almost every culture of the world reflects some awareness of the power of placement in its wisdom teachings. It is through this ancient legacy that Feng Shui practitioners seek to enliven your living space. At the deepest level of understanding, Feng Shui is the interplay between the seen (our surroundings) and the unseen (energy and intention). Feng Shui acknowledges the interconnectedness of all creation.

A good definition of feng shui is a:

tradition which describes rules in Chinese philosophy that govern spatial arrangement and orientation in relation to patterns of yin and yang and the flow of energy (qi); the favorable or unfavorable effects of this energetic interplay are taken into consideration in the design and arrangement of the space where we live and work.

Michael Travers has a lifelong passion for the practical aesthetics of our world, and as an artist and spiritual practitioner is especially suited to assisting you in making the most of your home or workplace.

FENG SHUI is the Chinese art of placement in relation to energy.  From the setting of a property to the placement of furniture in it to create a harmonious living/working environment, Feng Shui provides effective solutions to many living situations, minimizing problems and maximizing good fortune. My Consultation embraces the Form, Compass and Bagua schools of Feng Shui. A full consultation on an average size (three bedroom) house will take me a few hours. At the start of the consultation I look around the outside of the building paying particular attention to its relationship with the surrounding landscape (Form School) and other buildings and objects nearby, its image and how welcoming it feels as well as its Compass orientation. I will spend some time with the client, before assessing the interior space/s, to find out what changes they would particularly like to bring into their lives.  Then I will review the whole premises to assess its energy flow and elemental orientations, and use the Bagua (Octagonal Map) to establish which areas can be enhanced to help the client manifest their specific personal life requirements.
Finally I will make recommendations for any cures that might be necessary to improve the feeling and energy flow of all of the spaces, and follow up my consultation with a short report outlining all the major issues raised.
